Desculpa qualquer coisa

Loosely translating to “Sorry for anything,” this phrase sums up my entire trip to this South American paradise. Sorry for eating 15 desserts, sorry for running around town, sorry for living my best life here, sorry for poorly pronounced phrases. This town is like no other color flows from the locals to the cityscape.

I enjoyed dining at lux restaurant DOM by Chef Alex Atala eating gold ants, walked around batman alley, soaking up the scenes and art. I even had the opportunity to take a graffiti class. I used my go to AirBnB experiences and got vibrant shots with a local artist and saw the city from a camera lens.

To say it was a delight would be an understatement. The food, the culture, and the people were as fiery as you would imagine. A tourist knows carnival as an annual event, but when you meet these locals, you realize the same passion that is in carnival is in their heart and soul daily. Around there, every day is carnival.

I have a new favorite treat brigadeiro, which is made of sweet condensed milk, cocoa, and a pinch of salt. Talk about melt in your mouth delicious wash it down with a cup of the most robust Brazilian coffee one can find, and you have the perfect match. Should you want something stronger, then Cachaça is up your alley the sugar cane alcohol is different than rum because it is made with fermented sugarcane juice. Green apple Cachaça had to be my favorite, although any of the flavors would make you order another round.

At that point, another phrase fits well, and that is Desculpa, a bagunça which loosely translates to “Forgive the mess” now they are usually referring to home. Still, in this case, you could be referring to your behavior after a few Green apple Cachaça. All in good fun but all with excellent flavor. The phrase that I left feeling was Fique à vontade, which translates to “Make yourself comfortable, make yourself at home.”

This perfectly describes the feeling I left with. Anyone I came in contact with ensured I was comfortable, well taken care of, and well-fed. Thank you for the fantastic experience. I will see you again very soon.
